UCSB will graduate around 4,200 students by mid-June.

Approximately 4,200 students will graduate from UCSB in seven separate ceremonies that began on June 9 with the College of Creative Studies and will end on June 16 with the Graduate Division.
As is traditional, commencement exercises are organized by college, level of degree, and field of study so that each student can be individually recognized. Chancellor Henry T. Yang will shake the hand of each student from the Graduate Division, the College of Creative Studies, the College of Engineering, and the College of Letters and Science.
This Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16, six separate ceremonies will be held on the Faculty Club Green (Sharon Davis, the firstlady of California, will be among Sunday's speakers).
Guest speakers for each ceremony are as follows:
  • Saturday, June 15, 9 a.m. Science and Mathematics--Peter V. Sperling, founder and senior vice president of the Apollo Group, and chairman and founder of Callwave, Inc.
  • Saturday, 1 p.m. Engineering and Science--Daniel S. Goldin, senior fellow of the Council on Competitiveness, and former administrator of NASA.
  • Saturday, 4 p.m. Environmental Studies and Social Sciences I--W. Douglas Morgan, UCSB professor of economics.
  • Sunday, June 16, 9 a.m. Social Sciences II--Sharon Davis, first lady of California.
  • Sunday, 1 p.m. Arts and Humanities--Alumnus Scott Frank, Oscar-nominated screenwriter.
  • Sunday, 4 p.m. Graduate Division--Alumnus Bruce Wilcox, chairman of Cumberland Associates LLC.
  • Volunteer helpers are still needed for commencement activities ranging from souvenir program sales to student lineups. Call Laurie Horton in Public Events (x7382) to sign up.
