    A total of 15 women authors were applauded at the 8th Annual UCSB Women Authors Reception and Book Signing, organized by the Women's Center. Representing faculty and staff, the eight who could attend were, from left, Kay Young, English; Judy Guillermo-Newton, Women's Center; Sharon Farmer, history; Sandra A. Thompson, linguistics; Rebecca Zwick, Gevirtz Graduate School of Education; Shirley Geok-lin Lim, English; Dorothy Chun, Germanic, Slavic, and Semitic studies; and Xiaojian Zhao, Asian American studies.
