RISK SHARING EXAMINED

“The Macroeconomics of Imperfect Risk Sharing” is the title of a May 11-13 conference sponsored on campus by Nobel Laureate economist Finn Kydland’s UCSB Laboratory for Aggregate Economics and Finance.
Issues in risk sharing scholarship include the welfare gains of eliminating uninsurable individual risk; retirees’ savings behavior; the role of labor supply and female participation to the labor market as a self-insurance device, among others.
While this conference is by invitation only, research papers by participants will be posted afterwards on the meeting Web site <www.econ.ucsb.edu/laef/conferences/mirs06>.
